THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR SAFAI KARAMCHARIS (AMENDENT) ACT, 2001.
ACT NO. 55 OF 2001.
[13th December, 2001.]
An Act further to amend the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Act, 1993.
Be it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1.Short title.
This Act may be called the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (Amendment) Act, 2001.
2.Amendment of section 1.
In the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Act, 1993 (64 of 1993) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in section 1, in sub-section (4), for the figures, letters and words "31st day of March, 2002", the figures letters and words "29th day of February, 2004" shall be substituted.
3.Amendment of section 4.
In section 4 of the principal Act, after sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:-
"(1A) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and every Member appointed on or after the 16th day of February, 2001, shall hold office for a period not exceeding three years from the date of assumption of is office or up to the 29th day of February, 2004, whichever is earlier.".
