The Trust Deed has been registered with Sub-Registrar.Some amendments have been made to the object of the trust through a deed of variation.Is it compulsory to register amendment to Trust Deed with the registrar.

clarifications with reference to duty payable in TN would be helpful.

The nature of Trust has not been mentioned. Indian Trust Act, 1882 governs private or family trusts although various states have also enacted their own trust acts. Assuming that the registration was under the applicable trust act, with the authorities specified under the respective state's Act, any subsequent amendments also will have to be under a supplementary deed with the same registration formalities.

The trust is for public charitable purposes for imparting ancient Indian knowledge like yoga, breathing techniques, meditation to public at large irrespective of caste, religion or region.

Any amendment in the Trust would require registration particularly in objects or structure of the Trust. To avoid repeated subsequent registrations, clauses for appointment for Trustees, meetings, authorities, etc can be drafted to give flexibility for change. In such cases registration may not be necessary.
